Sunflect Kennels now resides nestled on 5 beautiful acres of
rolling hills in Hammond Louisiana. We enjoy what the country
life has offered --- the freedom to run and frolic in a secure
Sunflect is dedicated to the growth and development of the
English Springer Spaniel not only for performance events, but
most of all as a constant family companion - Temperament
being the utmost importance in my breeding program. We
believe in health clearances to insure the best breeding
program humanly possible with puppies occasionally available.
We began on the outskirts of New Orleans, Louisiana,
known for its excellent cuisine and Mardi Gras in
1975. The Sunflect prefix was derived from my first
show dog, an Irish Setter, Candy K's Sunset
Reflection, given this name for her elegance and deep
mahogany color which reflected the southern sun's
richness. Thus, the words “Sunset” and “Reflection”
were combined to create “Sunflect.”
My first English Springer Spaniel came as a gift in 1980 from Southwind Springers, which was a combination of Salilyn and Jester.
Tess, Southwind's Flashdance, immediately stole my heart and soon her brother, Sunny, Southwind's Sundancer, join our family. I was
sold on the breed and all they had to offer. We now have 6 resident Springers, Kix, Mojo, Oreo, Bobbie, Pirate, Boudreaux and our
special resident from Boston, Bentley.
To date, Sunflect is proud to have 8 Champions of Record and 1 with both a Novice Agility and Novice Agility Preferred title all
owner/breeder/handled. We also have several others just points away from their Championships and/or Performance Titles.
My clients - I have been very fortunate over the years to have several owners continue to put their trust in me with several of their dogs. I
have handled several dogs to their Championships, as well as Best In Show Specialty and Group Placements. All clients are personally
conditioned, trained and handled by me. My dedication to conditioning and presentation in the ring has proven to excel; especially in
2006 with A/C Ch. Maxwells Mansfield Park, qualifying for the 2006 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.
I am a member of the English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Association, Dallas-Fort Worth English Springer Spaniel Association, San
Antonio English Springer Spaniel Club, Louisiana Kennel Club, Deep South All Breed Obedience Training Club, Irish Setter Club of
Greater New Orleans and Owner Handlers Association. I have also held numerous offices both in All-Breed and Specialty clubs. I am a
participant in the ESSFTA Breeder Referral Program (BERP).
I have judged numerous matches, both All-Breed and Specialty. I had the honor of judging Sweepstakes for Garden State ESS Club,
Eastern ESS Club, and Greater Des Moines ESS Club Specialties.
